For the last 25 years, we have lived off-the-grid. We are one of only a few off-grid homes/farms here on Island.  We do not have any connection to the “BC HYDRO” power grid.  We are independent of any and all power failures that happen frequently here on the Island.  We have two systems for generation of energy, Solar and Wind.  We store all the power in huge batteries and/or use energy as it comes in when we are home.  We hope to upgrade our current system with more solar panels and more windmills in the future.

Our Geodesic dome is the most efficient building for heating and cooling and it has the heaviest snow load per square inch. On top of that, it can withstand sustained winds of 120 mph and earthquakes. We are very secure and safe from all that mother earth can and will throw at us for the next 20 years.
